First Sunday of every month!

At the Space Centre, we believe curiosity should never be limited by cost.

That belief comes to life through Pay What You Can Sunday — a special monthly opportunity for visitors to experience space science in a way that feels accessible, welcoming, and inclusive. Whether you’re a first-time visitor, a returning space enthusiast, or a family planning a weekend outing, this day is designed to open our doors a little wider for the community.

Pay What You Can Sunday is part of a shared community initiative across Vanier Park, taking place on the first Sunday of each month. Alongside the H.R.MacMillan Space Centre, visitors can also explore participating neighbours including the Vancouver Maritime Museum and the Museum of Vancouver, making it easy to turn one visit into a full day of discovery across science, history, and the ocean that connects us all.

Guests can enjoy access to our exhibits, live science experiences, and cosmic storytelling while contributing an admission amount that fits their budget. It’s all part of our commitment to removing barriers to science learning and ensuring everyone has the chance to explore the universe.

“We believe curiosity should never be limited by cost. Pay What You Can Day reflects our mission of learning without frontiers, welcoming everyone to explore the universe in a way that feels accessible and inclusive, no matter their background or budget.”
— Michael Unger, Director of Programming

Pay What You Can Sunday is about sparking imagination, inspiring future scientists, and creating shared moments of discovery for our entire community.

We invite you to plan your visit, bring your curiosity, and experience space, your way.
