In most planetarium shows, the universe is explained through data, distance, and discovery. This one does something far more personal.
Guided by Cree knowledge keeper Wilfred Buck, the show reveals the night sky as a living archive of stories, teachings, and relationships. Here, the stars known as achakosuk are not abstract points of light, but our oldest relatives, carrying lessons that stretch across generations. From navigation and seasonal cycles to values of responsibility and respect, these star stories bridge the practical and the poetic, offering insights that feel just as relevant today as they have for centuries.
About the Creators
Lisa Jackson is an award-winning Anishinaabe filmmaker whose work spans film, television, VR, and multimedia installations. Her projects have screened at Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW, Berlinale, and Hot Docs, earning multiple awards including Canadian Screen Awards.
Wilfred Buck is an Ininew (Cree) writer and educator, internationally recognized for his work sharing Indigenous star knowledge. A member of Opaskwayak Cree Nation, he has spent decades teaching through planetariums, exhibits, and public talks, and was awarded the 2023 Qilak Award by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
