Our Philantropic Beginning

The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre itself was created through philanthropy.

Before the Centre opened its doors in 1968, a generous anonymous gift funded the creation of a resource centre dedicated to space science and astronomy for the people of British Columbia. That donor was later revealed to be H.R. MacMillan, whose vision helped establish the Space Centre as a place where curiosity about the universe could be shared with the public.

More than five decades later, that spirit of generosity continues through the support of donors, partners, and community members who believe in the power of science education to inspire future generations.

Your support helps carry that legacy forward.

Why Your Support Matters
