Asteroids and Comets // On-Site Programming
What’s the difference between an asteroid and a comet? Join us on June 17th (daytime) or 18th (evening) for a comet-making demonstration and find out more about these cosmic travelers and current missions studying them.
During your 60-minute visit you will have 30 minutes to explore the exhibits in our Cosmic Courtyard Gallery. The other 30 minutes will be spent in our Observatory with a tour of our ½ metre Cassegrain telescope and a 15-minute cooking up a comet demonstration. (*Please note: if you are visiting during daylight hours you won't be able to look through the telescope.*)
This program is recommended for families with children ages 8+. Children must be accompanied by adults. One ticket must be purchased for each member of your group and groups can have a maximum of 4 people. We recommend that you dress warmly as the Observatory can be cold. Please arrive early to allow time for check-in.
Select your desired time slot and purchase a ticket for EACH MEMBER OF YOUR PARTY. Groups can have a maximum of 4 people. Tickets are $10 per person plus taxes and fees. We will be hosting 8 people per time slot to allow for adequate social distancing.
The safety of all visitors and staff is our priority. We want to welcome you in a safe and comfortable environment. We hope that you will enjoy being back at the Centre and reconnecting with our programs and activities.
PLEASE NOTE: All members of your group will be REQUIRED TO WEAR A FACE MASK. We will have disposable masks available if you need one.
