Overnight & Not-Quite-An-Overnight

Whether you’re a classroom-based teacher or have a group of cubs or brownies earning their astronomy or space badges our outreach and community programs are just right for you.

Overnight Adventures

Ever wonder what the H.R. Macmillan Space Centre is like at night? Your class will have the Space Centre all to themselves! Students will explore the Cosmic Courtyard, look through the ½ metre telescope in the Gordon MacMillan Southam Observatory (weather permitting), create a hands-on project, and end the night with an orientation to the night sky in our Planetarium. In the morning, a light breakfast is served followed by launching bottle rockets. Programming is ideally suited to grades 4 to 7 or ages 6 – 12 for community groups.

Cost $56 per student (1 adult per 4 children is admitted free) $28 per additional adult, + HST.

Please note: A $80.00 maintenance fee (general room preparation, furniture set-up and take-down, and cleaning) applies in addition to attendee fees.
Group size A minimum group size of 15 paid participants and a maximum of 75.
Arrival time Friday & Saturday: 9:00 pm / Sunday - Thursday: 8:00 pm
Departure time 9:00 am

Deposit A deposit of $250 is required upon booking.

Booking Changes/Cancellation Policy

$25 fee applies to all booking changes/cancellations made 7 or more days’ notice prior to confirmed event date.
$50 fee applies to all booking changes/cancellations made less than 7 days’ notice prior to confirmed event date.

FOOD ALERT Students will be provided with a snack of granola bars and juice in the evening, and a light breakfast of fresh-baked muffins and juice in the morning. Those with food allergies or specific dietary requirements should advise the Bookings Office upon confirmation of booking and provide their own food.

Not Quite an Overnight

Not a night owl? Rather sleep in your own bed? Not Quite an Overnight may be the program for you. During this 3 hour visit, your group will have their own show in the GroundStation Canada theatre, an orientation to the night sky, a hands-on workshop, and an opportunity to look through our ½ metre telescope (weather permitting).
