The Place for Star Gazers: Gordon MacMillan Southam Observatory
Located next to the Space Centre, the Gordon MacMillan Southam Observatory features a ½-metre Cassegrain telescope to explore the skies around Vancouver.
More specifically, the telescope is a ½-metre, f/16 classical Cassegrain reflector telescope on a fork-style equatorial mount, and equipped with a 15cm f/15 refractor guidescope (achromatic lens). For specifications on the telescope, please click here.
The drive system of the telescope is "go-to" (fully computer controlled), and is based on an Astrometrics Instruments servomotor package.

The Observatory dome was built in 1979 and has a span of 10 metres in diameter and hemispherical.
